Honey Child
Honey Child is a deeply personal photo book born from my publication design class, blending photography and interviews to explore resilience, community, and activism. Initially, I planned to capture candid moments on Thanksgiving, but life had other plans.
During this time, my great aunt, Genoveffa, Gena, as we call her, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She has always been like another grandmother to me, someone who loves fiercely and encourages me to keep pushing forward, even in uncertainty. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering belief in me became the heart of this project.
The title, Honey Child, comes from Gena’s signature greeting, always paired with a radiant smile and the kind of hug that makes you feel instantly at home. The black-and-white imagery reflects the coexistence of joy and grief, capturing both timeless memories and the love she continues to share so generously.
This book is more than a collection of photographs; it’s a tribute to Gena’s enduring spirit and the profound impact of love and memory. Through its pages, I invite readers to pause, reflect, and embrace the beauty in everyday moments. Whether seeking inspiration, comfort, or a reminder of the connections that shape us, Honey Child offers a heartfelt glimpse into the joy, complexity, and resilience of life.
