The Lion King Jr.

As part of my internship with Plymouth Public Schools in the Spring of 2026, I have the opportunity to photograph events across the district, capturing moments that celebrate student achievements and creativity. From academic ceremonies to art showcases, each event tells a story, but musical performances hold a special place in my heart.

Having grown up in theatre and music, I know firsthand the energy, dedication, and emotion that go into every performance. The rush of excitement before the curtain rises or the passion in a singer’s expression, the electricity of a show-stopping number, all of these moments contribute to the magic of live performance. Through my photography, I strive to capture those powerful instances that make each production unforgettable.

One of the most meaningful experiences during my internship was photographing The Lion King Jr. at Plymouth Community Intermediate School. Years ago, I was part of that very same production at PCIS, and stepping back into that space, this time behind the camera, was a full-circle moment. Seeing a new generation of performers take the stage, feeling their excitement, and preserving those moments was both nostalgic and inspiring. It reminded me of why I love storytelling through photography: it allows me to freeze emotions in time, preserving not just an image but the feeling of the performance itself.
